Kelvin Cochran to Keynote 30th Annual Prayer Breakfast at High Point Furniture Market

Event moves to New Quebein Arena and Convention Center

HIGH POINT—Kelvin Cochran, former fire chief of the city of Atlanta, who began his career as a firefighter and later ultimately named by President Barack Obama to the post of Administrator of the United States Fire Administration (USFA), will be the keynote speaker for the Annual Prayer Breakfast here.

The USFA is a division of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and supports and strengthens emergency medical services and stakeholders to prepare for, prevent, mitigate, and respond to all hazards.

This year’s event, set for Friday, April 21 from 7am-8am, is noteworthy for a number of reasons. In addition to having a speaker with Cochran’s achievements and credentials, the breakfast also marks the 30th year for this event.

Also worth noting, this year’s Prayer Breakfast is being held in a new location—the Qubein Arena and Conference Center, recently completed at a cost of $175 Million. It is located just minutes away from downtown High Point in the heart of High Point University.

According to the hosts of the breakfast, “Chief Cochran is an exceptional leader who made it to the pinnacle of his profession while staying true to his deepest held convictions. Something we all aspire to. He will be speaking on the topic: ‘Understanding Seasons’, a Biblical approach to the business cycle seedtime and harvest. We’re looking forward to a great event with our colleagues and anticipate an impactful morning of fellowship.”

The group also stressed that, “Kelvin was also selected because he stood out as a high character individual who would relate to people in our industry who are also leading people and teams to achieve high levels of success.”

As it has done year after year, the goal of the Prayer Breakfast is to bring a message to attendees that is spiritual as well as practical.

Regardless of a specific faith background, Cochran’s message will benefit how attendees handle their time at market, how they lead their businesses or departments, and will also guide them as they take personal inventories of their individual lives.

As a convenience to attendees, buses will be provided to pick up and drop off attendees to the breakfast from downtown High Point.

In addition, onsite parking at High Point University will be available for those who opt to drive.

Doors are open for attendees beginning at 6:30am
